Having entertained audiences for years with his electrifying stage performances and daring work in Norway's theater scene, including years with the National Theater in Oslo, Espen Alknes is perhaps Norway’s best kept secret. But we at Extra-Stellar believe the whole world should experience Espen’s charms. He has been the director of Urbane Totninger (Norway's biggest summer stage show) for many years and worked with several of the country's funniest comedians. He just directed a TV special with standup comedian Dora Thorhallsdottir. 

Having appeared in Norwegian TV shows Lilyhammer, Stardust, Eyewitness, Neste Sommer, Side om side, Taxi, and in the feature films East End Angels, Night of the Wolf, and 5 Lies, and in the short films What’s On Your Mind?, Lightning Boy, and Camping in Paradise, Espen’s striking presence makes an impression and leaves you wanting more. It was his bold and brilliant lead performance in Camping in Paradise that fully exposed all of his assets: comedic timing, dramatic dexterity, and physical charisma. Espen is a versatile performer with a chameleon-like quality to play a wide range of roles. 

Camping in Paradise (directed by Oscar®-nominated Eirik Tveiten) is currently screening at film festivals, including the 2024 Tribeca Film Festival, 2024 Palm Springs ShortFest, and the 2024 Annapolis Film Festival (where it won both the Jury Prize and the Audience Award).
